Job description

Pipe Care Group of companies has been helping customers ensure the integrity of their pipeline and facility assets for over 20 years. Pipe Care Group is seeking an experienced Polyurethane Technician [PU Technician] with the ability to interpret design drawings, knowledge of chemicals involved in molding and fabrication of polyurethane, and effective planning skills to deliver polyurethane products on schedule.

Key Responsibilities & Authorities

  1. Produce and repair polyurethane products using various molds.
  2. Be familiar with PU (chemical) raw materials, TDS, MSDS, and polyurethane procedures.
  3. Possess adequate knowledge of chemical processing and storage.
  4. Manage raw material stock for PU production quarterly and maintain a minimum of six months' stock.
  5. Maintain standard spare parts stock for PU machines and ovens, and troubleshoot as needed.
  6. Develop daily, weekly, and monthly plans for PU production.
  7. Use drafting software like AutoCAD or ZWCAD to create and print templates for drilling and cutting PU products.
  8. Utilize testing tools, dies, jigs, or molds to ensure proper operation.
  9. Set up and operate casting machines and curing ovens to produce polyurethane products, supporting machines like drills and lathes for finishing.
  10. Handle heavy-duty PU molds and finished products, placing them in/out of curing ovens operating at 100°C.
  11. Read and interpret machine operation and maintenance manuals; rectify errors promptly. Maintain spare parts for PU equipment annually.
  12. Achieve monthly production targets while maintaining good attendance.
  13. Position, secure, measure, and work with polyurethane stock or castings for machining.
  14. Ensure timely delivery of finished products with quality department approval.
  15. Lay out, shape, and assemble patterns from blueprints, models, or templates.

Skills/Experience

  • Diploma in Chemical, Mechanical, or Intermediate education; courses related to elastomers and mechatronics are preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a polyurethane production environment.
  • Experience in molding/casting of discs, cups, wheels, foam pigs manually and with machinery is preferred.

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Mobility to walk, climb, and access elevated platforms in a refinery or plant environment.
  • Effective communication skills, including speech and hearing.
  • Ability to focus and multitask effectively.
  • Willingness to wear safety equipment as required.
  • Sufficient mobility and reflexes for office duties and off-site travel, with or without accommodations.
