The primary role is to oversee long-term engineering studies related to plant instrumentation, manage reliability improvement programs, and ensure proper design and installation of instrumentation equipment in accordance with company standards.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design & review of instrumentation systems, technical evaluations, review of vendor documents, and assist during commissioning of existing and new installations.
- Provide input to department and function policies and procedures in line with company objectives.
- Review and support Process Control System design, including engineering and factory/testing/site testing.
- Prepare & execute maintenance projects, considering technology compatibility and financial feasibility.
- Provide technical guidance to assess plant technical issues during operations and project executions.
- Track & monitor equipment performance.
- Conduct high-level electrical problem solving.
- Collaborate with site expertise and third-party engineering firms to address instrumentation challenges.
- Work with reliability & operational teams on elimination of bad actors using root cause analysis methods.
- Develop and maintain equipment maintenance strategies applying RCM methodology.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
- Ensure all unit equipment documentation is complete, accurate, and updated (data & spec sheets).
- Review & update instrumentation procedures.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Proficient in writing and editing project specifications and technical reports.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills and expertise in root cause analysis methodology.
- Ability to perform independently in evaluation, judgment, and decision-making environments.
- Technical knowledge of multiple plant control systems used in chemical/petrochemical/oil and gas facilities, including DCS, ESD, and PLCs.
EDUCATION
- Diploma or degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, or related fields.
EXPERIENCE
- At least 7 years’ experience as an Instrumentation Engineer in heavy Chemical/Petrochemical industries.
- At least 10 years’ experience as an Instrumentation specialist in similar industries.
