Description:

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced engineer specializing in Carbon Capture Utilization & Sequestration (CCUS) to join the Downstream Process Engineering Division (DPED) under our Process and Control Systems Department (P&CSD).

The Downstream Process Engineering Division is responsible for providing technologies, process engineering expertise, support, and consultation in the area of refining and flare and relief systems.

As an engineer specializing in the CCUS field, your primary role is to provide technical expertise as well as to support and consult in specific areas of refining. You will coordinate and lead advanced techno-economic studies to plan, develop, and implement CCUS projects within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This role will work with multidisciplinary engineering teams and provide expert technical insights on CCUS-related matters.

Key Responsibilities:

As a successful candidate, you will be required to perform the following:

  • Work closely with operations personnel to understand their needs and produce designs and services to meet these expectations.
  • Review existing systems to identify improvement opportunities, potential problems, and remedies to existing problems, and conduct continuous improvement studies.
  • Provide capital and operations program leadership by originating and carrying out initiatives to improve performance, system optimization, and increase revenue to achieve best-in-class results in business.
  • Lead the development of company standards and guidelines for CCS projects in Saudi Arabia.
  • Develop the conceptual design for scoping of new projects, review, and approve the engineering calculations and design packages by engineering contractors.
  • Deliver presentations to international audiences of experts and publish technical papers.
  • Conduct simulation studies using Saudi Aramco licensed process simulation software packages such as HYSYS. Utilize process models for new and existing facilities and assess the ability of the model to deliver representative results.
  • Mentor junior engineers and deliver in-house training courses.
  • Work independently and create a positive work environment.
  • Act as a technical advisor and provide timely operational support to Saudi Aramco’s organizations.
Minimum Requirements:

As a successful candidate, you will hold a:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Petroleum, or Mechanical Engineering. Higher education is desired, but not required.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience within the CCS value chain, including in CO2 storage projects and a strong understanding of geological and engineering considerations, as well as the various trapping mechanisms, either in saline formations and/or depleted oil and gas reservoirs.
  • Expert understanding of the various stages of CCS processes and related technologies, including capture processes and technologies (e.g., chemical absorption, physical separation), CO2 transport mechanisms and its economic considerations, CO2 storage mechanisms, and the various uses of CO2.
  • Familiarity with the various costs across the entire CCS value chain.
  • Strong understanding of the different policy/regulatory frameworks that have allowed the successful development of global CCS projects.
  • Good understanding of carbon-related policies such as carbon tax, cap-and-trade, carbon pricing, etc.
