Primary Responsibilities- Heavy Equipment Management:
- Oversee maintenance, repair, and servicing of maritime heavy equipment including reach stackers, straddle carriers, empty container handlers, forklifts, heavy diesel trucks, and petrol vehicles.
- Schedule and supervise routine checks, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs.
- Facility Maintenance Oversight:
- Ensure operational readiness and upkeep of warehouses, workshops, offices, and yard facilities.
- Manage maintenance activities related to electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC, structural repairs, and general infrastructure.
- Operational Coordination:
- Coordinate closely with operations teams to minimize downtime and ensure efficient scheduling of equipment maintenance.
- Respond swiftly to urgent operational maintenance requirements in the container yard, warehouses, and workshop.
- Workshop and Yard Management:
- Supervise the maintenance workshop operations, ensuring a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.
- Regularly inspect maintenance practices performed within the yard and workshop to adhere to safety and quality standards.
- Parts Inventory and Procurement:
- Maintain optimal inventory levels for spare parts, tools, lubricants, and consumables required for equipment and facility maintenance.
- Coordinate procurement activities ensuring timely availability of necessary maintenance supplies.
- Staff Management & Training:
- Supervise maintenance technicians and support staff, assigning tasks, and monitoring performance.
- Organize training sessions on equipment handling, maintenance protocols, and safety practices.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain comprehensive records of equipment maintenance schedules, repair histories, inventory logs, and compliance documentation.
- Prepare periodic maintenance performance reports highlighting issues, solutions, and improvement recommendations.
- Safety Compliance:
- Enforce adherence to safety standards and regulations within maintenance activities.
- Implement preventive safety measures and ensure maintenance staff compliance with company safety protocols.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for improving equipment reliability, reducing downtime, and optimizing maintenance processes.
- Recommend and implement improvements in maintenance techniques, equipment upgrades, and operational procedures.
