Job description

Aramco energizes the world economy.

Aramco occupies a special position in the global energy industry. We are one of the world’s largest producers of hydrocarbons and chemicals, with among the lowest upstream carbon intensities of any major producer.

With significant investments in technology and infrastructure, we aim to maximize the value of the energy we produce while enhancing Aramco’s societal value.

Headquartered in Saudi Arabia, with offices worldwide, we combine market discipline with a forward-looking perspective, backed by nine decades of experience as responsible stewards of the Kingdom’s vast hydrocarbon resources. This responsibility drives us to deliver societal and economic benefits to the Kingdom and to communities, economies, and countries relying on our reliable energy supply.

We are one of the most profitable companies globally and rank among the top five in market capitalization.

Overview

We are seeking an attorney with experience in structured projects and commodity trading, especially regarding long-term supply contracts and offtake agreements, to join Saudi Aramco’s Law Organization at our Dhahran headquarters.

Saudi Aramco's Law Organization is expanding due to a broad corporate initiative that includes growth in exploration, production, refining, marketing, and expansion into petrochemicals, renewables, power, and other energy sectors. For adventurous professionals interested in working at one of the world’s most successful companies, Saudi Aramco offers a challenging in-house legal environment.

Key Responsibilities

As a successful candidate, you will:

  1. Provide commercially oriented legal advice to Saudi Aramco and its subsidiaries, particularly on commercial agreements related to investments, including long-term crude and product sales, crude importation, offtakes, processing agreements, tolling, and international hydrocarbon trading.
  2. Offer broad corporate support covering commercial transactions, governance, litigation, compliance, risk management, environmental, HR, and technology matters.
  3. Perform other duties as assigned by Law Management, providing ongoing guidance and support to other legal staff.
  4. Monitor and advise on complex regulatory environments affecting the company, and prepare updates for Law Management.
  5. Draft and provide legal opinions on complex corporate rights, obligations, contracts, and agreements.
Minimum Requirements

Candidates should have:

  1. Juris Doctor or Master of Law with relevant experience.
  2. At least 12 years of legal experience.
  3. Current license and good standing in the US, Canada, UK, EU, or an equivalent jurisdiction.
  4. Over 6 years of experience in a sophisticated law firm or corporate legal department, with a mix of private practice and in-house experience preferred.
  5. Strong experience in structured projects, especially in commercial contracts related to investments.
  6. Additional experience in commercial contracts, governance, litigation, risk management, or environmental law is a plus.
  7. Experience in trading or maritime law is advantageous but not required.
  8. Proficiency in Arabic and/or Mandarin is a plus.
Working Environment

Our high-performing employees are attracted by the challenging and rewarding opportunities we provide, with competitive remuneration.

At Aramco, employees work on large-scale projects supported by unmatched investment in technology and capital. We are committed to addressing major technical, logistical, and environmental challenges through heavy investment in talent development, including one of the world's largest workforce training programs.
