Job Title: Technician, Central Sterile Supply Distribution

Location:

Summary:

Involves the centralized processing and sterilization of patient care devices, reusable instruments, and equipment. Items are stored and then distributed, along with prepackaged, pre-sterilized supplies, using a distribution cart to various hospital areas including operating rooms and dental clinics.

Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Receive contaminated devices, instruments, and equipment in the decontamination area, and reduce bio-burden while wearing personal protective equipment. Use chemical disinfectants and sterilants according to safety procedures.
2. Operate decontamination and sterilization equipment, and report any malfunctions or changes in parameters.
3. Sort, inspect, assemble, and package decontaminated items.
4. Ensure proper sterility of processed items by following sterilization procedures, including loading, unloading, storing, and handling techniques. Record sterilization monitor results and apply tracking labels.
5. Prepare single items and sets as designated.
6. Stock CSSD carts with processed instruments to meet required levels.
7. Maintain cleanliness and microbial control through daily disinfectant cleaning and equipment inspection.

Education:

Bachelor's or Associate Degree/Diploma in Central Sterile Supply Distribution or related discipline.

Experience:

Grade 07: 1 year of related experience with a Bachelor's degree or 2 years with an Associate Degree/Diploma.

Grade 08: 4 years as CSSD Technician at KFSH&RC or related experience, with an average annual performance appraisal of at least 3.5 over the last four years, and 50 hours of CME.

Certificates:

Current registration from the country of origin and Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) is required.
