We are seeking a highly responsible and organized Emergency Dispatcher to act as the first point of contact for emergency and non-emergency calls. The ideal candidate will efficiently manage communication with emergency response units, coordinate resources, and provide critical information to ensure timely assistance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and prioritize emergency and non-emergency calls in a calm and professional manner.
- Collect and document critical information accurately, including the nature of the emergency, location, and contact details.
- Dispatch appropriate emergency services (police, fire, medical) based on the severity and type of incident.
- Monitor and track the status of dispatched units and provide updates as needed.
- Operate radio, telephone, or computer equipment to coordinate emergency responses.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with field units to ensure safety and situational awareness.
- Follow established protocols and procedures to handle various emergency situations effectively.
- Perform data entry and maintain records of all communications and incidents.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associates degree in Criminal Justice or related field preferred).
- Proven experience as an emergency dispatcher or similar role is an advantage.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and remain calm under high-pressure situations.
- Proficient with computer systems and emergency dispatch software.
- Knowledge of local geography and emergency procedures.
- Must pass a background check and any required certifications.
