Purpose

As a Database Administrator (DBA), you will ensure that production databases are operational 24/7. Your main goal is to facilitate a seamless flow of information across Lucidya's services by maximizing uptime. You will learn our system architecture quickly and adapt to evolving technologies, working within a complex environment that includes databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, ElasticSearch, and others. Roles & Responsibilities
  1. Manage database roles and privileges.
  2. Define, enforce, and document database policies, procedures, and standards.
  3. Install, configure, and tune database systems; perform capacity planning.
  4. Implement high-speed transaction recovery techniques and data backups.
  5. Minimize database downtime and optimize parameters for fast query responses.
  6. Provide data management support and training to developers.
  7. Conduct regular tests to ensure data security, privacy, and integrity.
  8. Monitor database performance, apply patches, and update versions as needed.
  9. Diagnose and troubleshoot database errors.
  10. Be available for on-call support as required.
  11. Contribute to company growth through interviewing, onboarding, and recruitment efforts.
  12. Advise team members on secure coding practices.
  13. Stay updated with new tools and best practices.
  14. Develop disaster recovery plans.
Requirements
Must-Have:
  • BA/BS or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Hands-on experience with administering SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL).
  • Experience with managed cloud services such as AWS and Azure.
  • Strong background in Unix/Linux OS and shell scripting skills.
Nice to Have:
  • Knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, and integrity.
  • Awareness of current trends in database administration.
  • Experience with database design, documentation, and coding.
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Problem-solving skills and algorithmic thinking.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with ElasticSearch, Redis, and Cassandra management.
  • Professional certifications in Unix/Linux and Database administration.
