- Develop a suitable care plan for patients with functional disorders & implement selected interventions, as appropriate for the patient s needs, to achieve functional independence or improved physical performance.
- Comply with CBAHI standards and other regulations.
- Obtain and document informed consent, explaining the risks and benefits of, and the rationale for, a proposed procedure or therapy.
- Contribute to policies regarding the use of physiotherapy equipment based on technologies such as magnetic fields, lasers, ultrasound, electrical currents, and infrared light, as well as techniques such as acupuncture and compression therapy.
- Provide treatment to convalescing patients including muscle testing, grading the strength or weakness of different muscles, guided exercise for weakened muscles, and underwater treatment.
- Evaluate procedures of physical disabilities caused by neurological disorders, stroke, diseases, or injuries.
- Follow established protocols regarding the care of patients undergoing physiotherapy including, but are not limited to; management of back pain, strokes, and hip or knee replacements.
- Help patients in the provision of mobility aids and a range of manual therapies including heat or cold therapies, ultrasound, and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation. (TENS).
- Perform postural drainage, percussions, and vibrations, as necessary.
- Maintain appropriate documentation of the patient s functional screening and assessment findings.
- Develop educational programs to guide patients or caregivers about the action plans and rehabilitative exercises.
- Assess patients at regular intervals, response to therapy is monitored and adjusted accordingly.
- Assure implementation of quality improvement & infection control programs within the department.
- Ensure medically necessary services are always readily available and accessible.
- Direct necessary requisitions for the consumed stock items and submit formal documentation to the designated department in case of malfunctioning equipment and defective instruments in the unit.
- Compile statistical information and registers pertaining to the medical records department, ancillary services, and other hospital statistical information.
- Maintain patient case files including progress notes, evaluations, recommendations, charted weekly progress notes, and quarterly summaries.
- Direct proper sterilization of the unit in specified conditions as per instructions of infection control.
- Develop procedures to confirm that physiotherapy equipment is regularly maintained as evidenced by a readily accessible record of preventive maintenance.
Qualification & Experience Requirements:
- Current Registration in the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties as a Physiotherapist.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Physiotherapist in a hospital setting.
Skills and Competencies:
- Knowledge of regulations established by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties related to healthcare practices.
- Broad knowledge of physiotherapy principles, standards, and practices.
- Effective managerial, administrative, and leadership abilities.
- Knowledge of quality & infection control programs to ensure safe clinical environment.
