The Role

Digital Grid Management (DGM)'s Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) is a rapidly growing area of our organization that enables electric distribution utilities to monitor, manage, control, and optimize the grid. As a Power Systems Engineer in DMS, you will be involved in all aspects of delivering systems to our customers, including designing, building, configuring, troubleshooting, and testing deployments. This role offers broad exposure to the entire ADMS, focusing on advanced applications such as Distribution Power Flow (DPF), Fault Location, Isolation & Service Restoration (FLISR), and Volt/VAR Control & Optimization (VVC/VVO). You will serve as a primary contact for customers throughout the project lifecycle and collaborate with cross-functional teams including other ADMS Application Engineers, Architecture & Product Solution teams, and Software Development. You will report to an ADMS Delivery Lead or Manager.

Your Impact
  • Provide technical leadership and serve as the face of AspenTech DGM for ADMS projects.
  • Implement control systems that enhance utility efficiency and meet contractual specifications.
  • Lead and contribute to the design, planning, and execution of ADMS projects.
  • Guide engineers during project execution.
  • Configure and install advanced distribution management applications such as DPF, FLISR, and VVC/VVO.
  • Lead testing events with customers.
  • Collaborate with development teams to troubleshoot and test product updates.
  • Work with GIS teams to manage electrical network models.
  • Configure and integrate software components to fulfill contract requirements and conduct customer testing.
  • Train customers on system operation.
  • Provide ongoing technical support for live systems.
What You'll Need
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Systems Engineering, or related field.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%.
  • Experience in power systems, electric utility operations, real-time control systems, client/server applications, network communications, UNIX/Linux/Windows OS, and programming/scripting (Python, C/C++).
  • Experience with databases (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Mongo, Cassandra) and data formats like JSON and XML.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong commitment to customer service.

The salary range for this role is $64,200 - $80,200, subject to factors like experience and location. The role is eligible for bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, charitable giveback days, insurance, and retirement plans.
