Job Description: Civil/Architecture Cost Estimator
As a Civil/Architecture Cost Estimator, your primary goal will be to minimize the cost and risk of construction projects while enhancing value for money. You will ensure compliance with legal standards and quality requirements, including statutory building regulations. Your responsibilities include preparing estimates and costs, tracking variations during project execution, and generating reports on profitability. You may work for the client or contractor in an office setting, involved in every project stage. Projects encompass commercial, industrial, and residential constructions.
- Review Tender Documents, B.O.Q, Drawings, and Specifications to understand the project scope.
- Conduct site visits to fully grasp the scope of work and environmental factors.
- Create clarification lists for project scope items, specifications, drawings, and documents.
- Perform Quantity Take-offs from tender drawings and documents to prepare accurate financial proposals and communicate with suppliers.
- Develop risk assessment reports to evaluate tender risks.
- Prepare material procurement packages based on project scopes.
- Update supplier lists, send RFPs to vendors and subcontractors, and follow up on pricing to ensure contacts are current.
- Compare quotations from multiple offers to select the most suitable proposals both technically and commercially.
- Collect and select appropriate offers from subcontractors and suppliers, and prepare dry (direct) costs as per specifications.
- Calculate indirect costs, including overheads, logistics, financial costs, and risk assessments.
- Prepare project information, metadata, and executive summaries for tenders.
- Verify quantities for civil and architectural items and extract quantities.
- Apply value engineering methodologies with relevant departments to maximize cost savings without compromising technical requirements.
- Prepare final technical and financial proposals for tenders.
- Respond to post-tender clarification inquiries.
- Prepare estimates, expenditure statements, and other documentation, updating costs regularly to account for market fluctuations and inflation.
