Job description

Our client, one of the leading MEP specialist construction companies, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer.

The successful candidate will be mainly responsible for the following role:

1. To assist Senior Engineers in the evaluation of the engineering content of projects designed by others.
2. To assist Senior Engineers and the Tendering Department as required in the development of concept designs for Design and Build/EPC contracts.
3. To assist in the development of concept designs and designs by others using recognized methods of calculation to a level by which materials and equipment can be procured and shop drawings can be produced.
4. To assist the Project management team in all technical aspects of the works, including assistance with procurement where required.
5. To assist in liaison with Client’s personnel in securing approval of drawings, materials, and equipment.
6. To assist in liaison with CAD operators in the timely production of Shop Drawings to an acceptable level.

Responsibilities

1. Ensure up-to-date knowledge and application of QA procedures related to the function of the position.
2. Assist Procurement as required to ensure that all procurement is suitable for the purpose intended and is within contractual requirements.
3. Carry out calculations by recognized corporate procedures and with the use of corporate-approved design software to evaluate the performance criteria of equipment.
4. Ensure compliance with requirements of the Client and standard regulations.
5. Coordination and follow-up to ensure timely execution of the tendering process and/or project execution.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

Skills

1. Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience including supervision.
2. Knowledge and related experience of a wide spectrum of engineering services for building and infrastructure, particularly with mechanical engineering.
3. Detail-oriented.
4. Practical knowledge of all services sufficient to provide assistance with any technical difficulty arising at the site.
