Working as a Model Maker
Entails fabricating scaled models to specified quality and standards. This includes the fabrication and installation of stands, covers, and basic electrical wiring.
Key Accountabilities
The position involves:
- Working with diverse materials and understanding their properties, such as plexiglass, acrylic, styrene, PVC, plywood, wood, cardboard, high-density foam, ABS, and vinyls.
- Fabricating stands, crates, etc., including assembly, sanding, painting, and finishing of products.
- Assisting with the preparation and installation of exhibitions and presentations on-site as instructed by Workshop/Project Managers.
- Coordinating and monitoring activities in accordance with the project schedule.
- Managing small to medium-sized projects independently as instructed by Workshop/Project Managers.
- Wrapping and packing models, stands, or other required items.
Skills
We are looking for:
- A Diploma in Architectural Model Making or an equivalent qualification.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a related field.
- Knowledge of color application.
- Understanding of scale, model scales, and how to convert/revert these.
- Knowledge of landscape finishes, including hardscape and vegetation.
- Experience applying vinyls and cling films onto different substrates.
