SUBSTATION PROJECT MANAGER (ELECTRICAL )

Job Summary:

The Substation Project Manager (Electrical) is responsible for leading and managing the execution of Extra High Voltage (EHV) substation projects from inception to completion. This includes overseeing all phases of engineering, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning, ensuring compliance with technical standards, safety requirements, budget, and schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the complete life cycle of EHV substation projects (132kV, 220kV, 380kV and above).
  • Lead planning and execution of project milestones, deliverables, and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate with design teams, procurement, construction, testing & commissioning, and external stakeholders including clients and regulatory authorities.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable electrical standards (IEC, IEEE, SEC specifications, etc.).
  • Supervise on-site construction, safety, and quality activities, ensuring alignment with project specifications and company standards.
  • Monitor project performance against scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Prepare and present regular project progress reports to management and clients.
  • Manage risk assessments, mitigation plans, and issue resolution.
  • Support contract management, including variation orders and claim preparation.
  • Ensure timely completion and handover of the substation in coordination with T&C teams.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering .
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification is a plus.
  • 15+ years of experience in project execution of EHV substations (including GIS/AIS technology).
  • Proven experience with utility projects in the GCC or international EPC environment.
  • Strong knowledge of protection systems, control systems, SCADA integration, and interface management.
  • Familiarity with tools such as MS Project, Primavera, and engineering design software.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluent in English (Arabic is an advantage).
