Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Database Needs Assessment:Determine database needs for the firm and various projects.
• Technical Design Implementation:Implement the technical design for database solutions.
• Teradata Object Creation:Create and modify Teradata objects such as databases, users, profiles, roles, and tables.
• Troubleshooting Procedures:Design and manage troubleshooting procedures for issues like hot AMPs, crash dumps, slowdowns, and connectivity problems.
• Upgrade Strategy:Plan, design, and implement hardware and software upgrade strategies for the Teradata database.
• Data Modeling:Model data and draft technical documentation.
• Effort Validation:Validate evaluations of efforts required for each project and task.
• Team Training:Train team members on database-related technologies to enhance skill sets.
• Data Quality Assurance:Enhance processes to ensure the quality and integrity of data.
• Reporting:Draft complex reports and compile statistics for analysis.
• Performance Monitoring:Monitor, optimize, preserve, and manage changes to the database environment.
• Environment Cloning:Clone environments as required for testing and development.
• Project Integration:Serve as a focal point for integrating technical efforts on projects involving multiple departments.
• Additional Tasks:Carry out all other related tasks as assigned.

Specific Administration Responsibilities

• TASM:Manage performance queues and configurations according to new changes.
• Datamover Administration:Manage and create jobs for daily data replication, adding and updating jobs as requested.
• NetBackup Administration:Oversee tape management, library settings, and full/incremental backups.
• Query Grid Administration:Manage different ECO systems.
• Teradata OS (Linux) Administration:Administer Teradata operating systems based on Linux.

Skills

• Strong experience with Teradata database administration.
• Proficiency in data modeling and technical documentation.
• Familiarity with performance tuning and troubleshooting procedures.
• Experience in Linux OS administration.
• Knowledge of backup and recovery processes, including NetBackup.
