Medical Science Liaison - Specialty Care
Purpose
- The Medical Scientific Liaison (MSL) is a field-based role (70-80% of the time) that provides scientific expertise, builds knowledge, and fosters activity-based relationships with Key Opinion Leaders to advance medical practice and research, benefiting society and enhancing Pfizer’s image in the Saudi markets. The MSL reports to the Specialty Care Medical Lead / Senior Medical Manager - Specialty Care.
- The role actively contributes to the organization by ensuring the scientific, technical, and ethical soundness of all policies, statements, and endeavors.
- The MSL provides high-quality, timely services in interactions with Healthcare Professionals, Continuing Medical Education, Clinical Research, Sales Force Training, and business support in areas like New Product Development, Regulatory Affairs, Quality Standards, and Business Technology.
- It acts as a critical interface with scientific leaders and builds regional, national, or international relationships to enhance understanding of diseases, research, scientific trends, clinical practice guidelines, and treatment patterns relevant to the business.
Interactions / Organizational Relationships
- Internal: Marketing, Sales, Regulatory, Medical Information, Legal, PHI
- External: Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), Speakers, Decision Makers, Local Medical Societies, Health Authorities
Main Responsibilities / Duties
- Provide medical and scientific information to healthcare professionals in response to requests, including clinical data about marketed products and scientific information on new or developing products.
- Liaise with healthcare professionals to communicate and manage drug safety issues regionally, nationally, or internationally.
- Develop and maintain medical and scientific partnerships with healthcare professionals.
- Contribute geographical insights and customer knowledge to the development of in-country clinical plans and feed into above-country and global clinical plans for both marketed and developmental products.
Cross-Divisional Networks
- Develop and maintain ongoing cross-functional relationships within Pfizer in-country and above-country teams.
Required Skill Set
- University degree in Medicine or Pharmacy.
- 1-3 years of corporate experience, preferably in specialized therapeutic areas.
- Experience in inflammation and immunology is a plus.
- Saudi National preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong presentation skills.
- Project management capabilities.
- Effective time management skills.
- Ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
- Ability to build and maintain excellent relationships with colleagues and external customers.
- Proven self-starter, good planner and implementer, with experience influencing without authority and analytical thinking.
