Your function

EGI is seeking a highly experienced EMS Engineer to join our Control Center Modernization team, working on Smart Grids Design & Digitalization. The ideal candidate will have over 10-15 years of hands-on experience in the operation, maintenance, and optimization of EMS applications, including SCADA, Network Applications, Generation Applications, and Dispatcher Training Simulators (DTS). This role involves system modeling, tuning, data validation, and coordination with multiple stakeholders for real-time and study-based power system operations.

Typical responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Operate and maintain EMS applications, including:
    • EMS (Network/Generation-related applications)
    • SCADA and DTS Systems
  • Perform system tuning, application performance review, and database configuration updates.
  • Lead or contribute to modeling for network, generation units, and SCADA integration.
  • Participate in the commissioning of substations and ensure signal point lists (SPL) are correctly mapped and verified.
  • Conduct technical evaluations of vendor proposals/designs for EMS upgrades or expansions.
  • Provide training and support to control room operators on EMS functions and best practices.
  • Analyze system frequency response and recommend frequency correction dead bands and generator droop settings.
  • Support FAT/SAT activities for generation and SCADA applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless EMS integration with broader control center infrastructure.
Your responsibilities will be discussed during interviews, based on your competencies and expertise.

Your profile
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Power Systems or related field; Diploma in Automatic Control is a plus;
  • 10+ years of EMS experience;
  • Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills;
  • Experience with AGC, Economic Dispatch, Reserve Monitoring, and Load Forecasting tools;
  • Fluent in English;

Riyadh. Mobility required: 30% worldwide travel depending on project needs.
