Job description

Laboratory Team Leader Type II (Metrology/Calibration)

Location: Dhahran, Saudi Arabia
Job Purpose:

As a Laboratory Chief Type II, you will be responsible for implementing the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) and Saudi National Technical Training Program (SNTTP). Your role involves training RSAF/SNTTP Trainee Technicians from Skill Level 3 to Skill Level 7, in accordance with RSAF policies, procedures, plans, directives, and documents. The aim is to ensure optimal use of resources and adherence to 'Best Practice' principles to achieve excellence in training delivery and outcomes.

Job Accountabilities

The Laboratory Chief Type II advises the MetCal Wing Commander and Operations Manager on daily operations of all Secondary Calibration Squadrons (SCSs) in KSA. You will manage these SCSs in line with RSAF Instruction 4-7702 and directives from the MetCal Wing Commander and Operations Manager.

Recruitment Specifications
  • Minimum university degree in Physics, Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or other relevant fields, as approved by the MetCal Wing Commander.
  • Completion of formal training (factory or service) in electronic, electro-mechanical, or instrument-mechanical measurement instruments used in dimensional, barometric, or temperature measurements.
  • Seven years of extensive practical experience in measurement techniques, calibration, and standards repair, with at least five years in a technical management role.
  • Proficiency in English communication, including report writing and correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with high-level RSAF and BAE Systems personnel, using proper protocol and diplomacy.
  • High personal integrity and commitment to ethical standards.
  • Experience operating at a senior level in a complex technical environment, with knowledge of calibration methods and international metrology activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Assist in the administration and direction of all Secondary Calibration Squadrons in KSA.
  2. Manage SCSs to ensure compliance with RSAF procedures and standards.
  3. Provide advice on future calibration capabilities, equipment, staffing, facilities, and training needs.
  4. Review resources and procedures to enhance capability and performance.
  5. Analyze KPIs related to calibration output and turnaround times.
  6. Prepare and present reports on metrology activities to senior management.
  7. Maintain effective communication across all calibration units to ensure knowledge sharing and status updates.
