Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Chief Accountant Dark Stores to lead our financial operations related to inventory, cost management, and accounting for our dark store business model. The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge in accounting principles, inventory controls, ERP systems, and extensive experience working with dark store models.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee accounting operations for all dark stores, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting and inventory valuation.
  • Manage inventory and cost accounting processes, including daily reconciliation, shrinkage analysis, and variance investigations.
  • Collaborate with operations and supply chain teams to align financial strategies with business goals.
  • Ensure accurate setup and classification of products (owned vs. consignment) within the ERP system and ensure correct treatment in accounting and reporting.
  • Monitor and analyze inventory KPIs and develop actionable insights to improve efficiency and reduce losses.
  • Oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes related to inventory and cost of goods sold.
  • Drive ERP implementation and continuous improvements, troubleshoot system-related issues, and coordinate with IT and vendors as necessary.
  • Prepare detailed financial reports, dashboards, and statements tailored to dark store operations.
  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory and internal financial policies.
  • Lead audits and ensure readiness for both internal and external reviews.
  • Support strategic decision-making by providing financial data, forecasts, and analysis.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (Master's degree or CPA is a plus).
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in accounting, cost/inventory control, preferably in online delivery, e-commerce, or fast-paced retail environments.
  • Proven experience in dark store operations, especially related to inventory setup and control.
  • Strong background in ERP systems implementation, troubleshooting, and optimization (Odoo, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.).
  • In-depth knowledge of inventory management, product lifecycle tracking, and differentiating accounting treatments for owned vs consignment inventory.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities, with a high level of ownership and accountability.
