Context
We are seeking a results-driven Commercial Contracts Manager to lead the commercial and contractual functions on a major transportation/mobility infrastructure project. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in managing complex contracts, commercial negotiations, and risk, ensuring the project remains compliant, profitable, and aligned with strategic objectives
Missions/Main Duties
- Contract Management: Oversee the administration of prime and subcontracts across all project phases, including negotiation, execution, compliance monitoring, and close-out.
- Claims Management: Identify potential claims early, develop and implement claims strategy, manage and prepare claims for extension of time, additional cost, and scope changes.
- Change & Variation Control: Manage and evaluate variations, change orders, and amendments to ensure they are captured contractually and commercially.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate commercial and contractual risks through proactive engagement with project teams, legal advisors, and stakeholders.
- Proactively identify contractual risks and provide mitigation strategies. Coordinate with legal counsel and project leadership on dispute resolution (including mediation, arbitration, or litigation).
- Stakeholder Coordination:
- Reporting & Analytics: Prepare detailed commercial reports, dashboards, forecasts, and cash flow analyses for senior leadership and project stakeholders.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Interface with internal departments, clients, contractors, legal teams, and external auditors to ensure smooth contract delivery and issue resolution.
- Liaise with contractors, consultants, clients, and internal teams to ensure clarity and consistency on contractual obligations, variations, and deliverables.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain comprehensive records of correspondence, contractual notices, claims documentation, and reports. Provide regular updates to senior management on claims status and contractual risks.
- Commercial Support: Assist the commercial team in budgeting, cost tracking, change control, and procurement strategies related to contract execution.
Profile/Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Commercial Management, or a related field (Master's degree preferred). PMP considered an advantage
- Fluent in English with strong written and oral communication. Ability to edit and write content in English. Proficiency in Arabic language an advantage but not essential
- Minimum of 10 to 15 years of experience in commercial and contract management for large-scale infrastructure or railway projects.
- In-depth knowledge of contract law, FIDIC contracts, and commercial management in the infrastructure and transportation sectors.
- Strong understanding of Saudi legal and regulatory frameworks, particularly in relation to contracts and commercial management.
- Proven experience in managing multi-million-dollar contracts, including dispute resolution, contract negotiation, and claims management.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to manage contract discussions.
- Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving abilities
- Financial and commercial acumen, including cost forecasting and budget management.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple commercial and contractual workstreams.
Experience in the Gulf Countries, specifically Saudi Arabia will be preferred.
