Job Purpose
Undertake advanced statistical and data science work, including compiling, harmonizing, developing, and disseminating key statistical indicators and predictive models to support evidence-based research and inform management decisions. Provide high-quality, timely statistics and data-driven insights crucial for guiding IsDB's operational strategies and enhancing country-level dialogues. Ensure the IsDB website is updated with the latest, high-quality data and analytical insights on the bank's interventions and member countries.
Develop and maintain robust databases, integrating big data technologies and advanced data analytics methods. Promote new data techniques, including machine learning, within IsDB and across member countries, and coordinate with regional and international statistical agencies on global initiatives.
Key Accountabilities
Policy And Strategy Planning
- Contribute to the Division’s annual work plans, programs, and activities.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of strategies, policies, procedures, and guidelines of the IsDB Institute.
- Assist in developing and implementing frameworks and tools for economic research and statistics.
- Support risk management and assessments of member countries' vulnerabilities and debt sustainability.
Statistical Analysis
- Use visualization tools and programming languages (e.g., Python, R, Tableau, Power BI) to create dashboards and graphical representations.
- Improve aggregation techniques to meet international standards.
- Optimize code for efficiency and scalability.
- Apply AI and Machine Learning techniques in data management and analysis.
- Identify and integrate new relevant datasets.
- Compile data from member countries and other sources to produce key indicators and datasets.
- Develop methods for macroeconomic analysis supporting SDGs.
- Validate data accuracy and ensure database integrity.
- Maintain databases to ensure continuous functionality.
- Respond to increasing data demands for decision-making.
- Support capacity building in statistical methods, especially for less developed countries.
- Contribute data for annual reports and research publications.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge Sharing And Dissemination
- Facilitate knowledge transfer within IsDB and externally through events and publications.
- Coordinate and contribute to seminars, workshops, and capacity-building activities.
- Prepare statistical outputs and reports.
- Participate in training, conferences, and advocacy activities.
- Report operational data to global datasets and reports.
- Organize statistical events and capacity development initiatives.
Reporting
- Prepare periodic and thematic statistical reports for internal and external use.
- Coordinate with stakeholders on reports related to program performance.
Leadership And Mentoring
- Mentor junior data scientists and foster a culture of knowledge sharing.
Innovation And Strategic Contributions
- Lead strategic projects leveraging innovative data science methods for decision-making and policy development.
Academic And Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in statistics, data science, programming, or related fields.
- At least 8 years of experience in economic analysis, including 3 years in an international development or statistical organization.
Skills & Necessary Knowledge
- Expertise in statistical applications and data management.
- Understanding of national accounts, balance of payments, and fiscal accounts.
- Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., SPSS, STATA, R, Python, Power BI, Tableau).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
