Job description

Job Summary:

Perform maintenance, overhauling, repair, and servicing of generators, including rewinding, for a range of well-known turbo-generators with units generating 50MW to 700MW (Gas or Steam units).

Main Duties:

• Perform standard services on units as per O&M procedures under the supervision of the assigned engineer.
• Assist in preparing generators for shipment as needed.
• Perform electrical and mechanical tests on generator stator/rotor.
• Inspect RTDs and perform replacements as necessary.
• Assist with other duties related to any type of generator.
• Conduct onsite or workshop inspections and overhauls of generator stator and rotor.
• Rewind generator rotors at site or workshop.
• Perform full or partial rewinding of generator components (rotor/stator).
• Possess extensive experience in generator repair and rewinding, with a focus on MV motors rewinding and overhauling.

Skills:

• Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 8 years’ experience as a generator technician, including participation in at least 3 generator overhauls and preferably at least one rewinding (stator or rotor).
• Proficiency in computer skills.
• Good command of the English language.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to read drawings and follow manual procedures.
• Strong reporting skills are mandatory.
