The Data Center Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the operations of the data center, managing the team of engineers and technicians, and ensuring the infrastructure is highly available, secure, and efficient. This role involves managing day-to-day activities, providing leadership to the team, and ensuring that all data center systems meet the organization's operational and security requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to organizational policies and procedures to ensure compliance and maintain a productive work environment.
  • Lead and manage a team of data center engineers and technicians. Provide mentorship, training, and performance management to ensure the team operates efficiently and meets service objectives.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the data center, ensuring all systems are functioning optimally. Ensure all maintenance and upgrades are carried out as scheduled, minimizing downtime and ensuring operational continuity.
  • Take a hands-on approach to diagnosing and resolving issues in the data center. Provide escalation support and troubleshooting for complex issues, ensuring rapid resolution and minimal service disruptions.
  • Ensure all physical infrastructure, including servers, storage devices, networking equipment, and cooling systems, are operating efficiently. Monitor performance and plan for necessary upgrades or optimizations.
  • Plan for future capacity needs based on growth and technology trends. Ensure the data center can scale appropriately and that resources are allocated effectively.
  • Ensure data center operations comply with industry standards and internal security policies. Implement and enforce access controls, data protection strategies, and disaster recovery protocols to safeguard the infrastructure.
  • Lead efforts to automate repetitive tasks and optimize data center processes. Utilize monitoring tools to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies, driving continuous improvement in operational efficiency.
  • Work closely with external vendors and service providers to manage equipment procurement, service contracts, and any issues that arise with third-party services.
  • Ensure the data center follows all health and safety protocols and industry best practices, including risk assessments and emergency response plans.
  • Employees might be required to perform additional duties as needed to support the team and overall business objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology.
  • 8 to 9 years in IT with 2 years in a lead position.

Required Skills

  • ITIL fundamental is a must.
  • Certifications in data center technologies (e.g., Cisco Certified Network Associate, VMware Certified Professional).
  • Certified in M365 administration and M365 security solutions.
  • Knowledge of Azure cloud computing platforms and hybrid cloud architectures.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with automation tools and processes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
