Summary
Responsible for diagnosing and treating conditions related to the ear, nose, throat, head, and neck. ENT consultants may treat both children and adults, working in clinic and surgical settings.
Education / Qualification Required:
- Basic medical degree from a recognized institution
- Post-qualification certification from: North America, Western Europe, Australia, or New Zealand
- Specific certifications include:
- USA: The American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (ABOHNS)
- Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (FRCPC ENT)
- UK and Ireland: CCT/CCST Specialist Register ENT
- Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College ENT (FRACP)
- Western Europe: Equivalent certification
Experience Post-Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years in a tertiary care ENT surgery center
- Minimum 3 years after board/certification in USA, Canada, Ireland, UK, Australia, New Zealand, France
- Minimum 5 years after board/certification in Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, Netherlands, Greece
License:
- Valid medical license in the country of residence
- Current BLS/ACLS certification
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality inpatient, outpatient, and surgical care in otolaryngology, Head & Neck
- Operate within approved privileges in the OR
- Supervise assistants during surgery if they lack privileges
- Be physically present during surgeries and working hours; available for contact as needed
- Perform administrative duties and participate in educational, research, and training activities
- Share on-call responsibilities
- Assess and diagnose patient conditions, prescribe treatments, perform surgeries, and conduct relevant tests
- Follow hospital policies and procedures
- Manage clinic scheduling and approvals as per protocols
- Meet CME requirements and maintain teamwork
- Perform other duties as assigned
