ROLE OVERVIEW

The Engineer – Stormwater Drainage & Flood Risk supports the development and implementation of NEOM’s stormwater drainage and flood prevention strategy.The role involves providing advanced civil engineering, hydrological, and hydraulic expertise to assist in the conceptualization and development of regional drainage plans and strategic flood protection projects within NEOM.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate with the Principal Drainage Engineer to develop and oversee the implementation of flood protection measures for ongoing NEOM development projects during the construction phase.
  • Collaborate with the Projects Team and Constructors to ensure the effective execution of “Site- Specific Flood Response Plans.”
  • Assist the Senior Drainage Specialist in developing regional drainage plans and flood protection projects by providing technical data and insights from onsite activities.
  • Deliver advanced hydraulic expertise for the design of flood protection measures to address fluvial flooding (large-scale civil works) and pluvial flooding (urban stormwater drainage systems).

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Solid technical knowledge in civil engineering pertains to flood protection.
  • Experience in the design and operation of drainage systems with high interest in the supervision of on-site civil engineering works,
  • Good experience on working with civil engineering designers and constructors,
  • Interest in developing expertise in erosion and sedimentation processes, as well as the application of sustainable drainage systems in arid contexts.
  • Enthusiast for building professional relationships with designers and contractors and
  • communicate hydrological and sustainability concepts to communities.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on water resources and risk management.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in civil engineering related to water resources management and associated risks. Knowledge and experience in water resources and risk management specific to arid regions is advantageous
