Job Title: Piping Design Engineer

Location: DAR Consulting Engineers (In-House Jubail Office)

Experience Required: 6–8 years in piping design and engineering

Job Description:

DAR Consulting Engineers is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Piping Design Engineer with 6–8 years of experience in the oil & gas, petrochemical, and industrial sectors. The successful candidate will contribute to the design, development, and execution of piping systems as part of FEED and EPC projects, ensuring adherence to international standards and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Piping System Design: Develop and review piping layouts, routing plans, isometric drawings, and general arrangements (GAs) in accordance with project specifications.
  • Project Execution: Prepare Bill of Materials (BOM), line lists, valve lists, and MTOs for full-plant installations and interconnecting piping systems.
  • Technical Documentation: Develop engineering data sheets, technical requisitions, and carry out vendor technical evaluations based on client and project requirements.
  • Field Coordination: Perform site location marking and tie-in point verification for brownfield modifications and extensions.
  • Codes & Compliance: Ensure design compliance with ASME, ANSI, API, ISO, BS, and client-specific standards including safety, suitability, and operational efficiency.
  • Interdisciplinary Coordination: Work collaboratively with process, mechanical, electrical, civil, and instrumentation teams for integrated system designs.
  • Client and Vendor Engagement: Liaise with clients, construction teams, and vendors to ensure technical compatibility and timely delivery of project milestones.
  • Stress Analysis (Basic): Ensure piping layout allows for stress relief via proper support design, expansion loops, and flexibility checks (in collaboration with stress team).
  • Review & Safety Assurance: Participate in design review meetings and apply safety-in-design practices for hazardous area piping and pressure systems.

International Standards & Codes Required:

  • ASME B31.3 – Process Piping
  • ASME B31.4 – Liquid Hydrocarbon Pipeline Systems
  • API Standards – (as applicable to tanks, valves, pumps)
  • ANSI B16.5 – Flanges and Flanged Fittings
  • ISO & BS Standards – as adopted in Middle East projects

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university
  • 6–8 years of experience in piping design in the oil & gas or industrial sector
  • Strong understanding of FEED, EPC project cycles, and proposal preparation
  • Excellent drafting and layout skills for plant and interconnecting piping
  • Experience in large-scale projects such as terminals, pipelines, refineries, or chemical plants
