Develop, implement and maintain EHS programs and processes to ensure a safe and environmentally responsible work environment and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements/company procedures, minimize EHS related risk, and strive for EHS excellence.

**Job Summary: **

The EHS Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring programs to ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations. This role focuses on fostering a safe workplace, minimizing environmental impact, and promoting a culture of safety through risk assessments, training, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Job Duties:

Provides technical expertise, training and guidance to ensure compliance with applicable state/country regulatory and industry standards.

Ensures the development, deployment and, as necessary, delivery of effective EHS training to supervisors and employees.

Develops and implements EHS policies and procedures.

May function as Safety Officer, Emergency Coordinator as needed.

May function as the EHS site key contact, working with the HR Business Partner team.

Administer waste programs, including day-to-day monitoring of waste quantities generated, procurement of packaging supplies and labels and scheduling of waste pickups.

Lead EHS Committee and team activities, such as department safety teams, emergency response team, etc.

Manage Material Safety Data Sheets and Hazardous Materials management system.

Prepares and submits regulatory and internal company reports as required, including permit and wastewater records, emission and hazardous waste reports, injury/illness and other EHS reports.

Develops, implements and maintains required EHS programs, may include but not limited to lockout/tagout, confined space, respiratory protection, hazardous waste management, emergency planning and response, etc. Investigates accidents and spills and identifies corrective measures.

Identify and assess workplace hazard risks and implements appropriate risk control measures. Evaluates purchases and facility modifications to ensure compliance with standards.

Interacts with government agencies.

Communicates effectively with site management and employees.

Perform other related duties as needed.

**Key Responsibilities: **

- **Program Development & Compliance: **

- Design and enforce EHS policies in alignment with OSHA, EPA, ISO 14001/45001, and local regulations.

- Conduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure compliance.

- Manage permits, reporting, and interactions with regulatory agencies during inspections.

- **Incident Management & Training: **

- Lead investigations into incidents, near-misses, and environmental spills; implement corrective actions.

- Develop and deliver EHS training programs (e.g., hazardous materials, emergency response).

- **Environmental Stewardship: **

- Oversee waste management, emissions control, and pollution prevention strategies.

- Support sustainability initiatives, including energy efficiency and carbon footprint reduction.

- **Emergency Preparedness: **

- Maintain and test emergency response plans (spill control, evacuation drills).

- **Data & Documentation: **

- Track EHS metrics (incident rates, audit findings) and prepare reports for management.

- Ensure accurate record-keeping of training, incidents, and compliance activities.

- **Collaboration & Innovation: **

- Partner with cross-functional teams to integrate EHS into operations and new projects.

- Recommend improvements to enhance safety performance and operational efficiency.

Required:

5 years minimum of applied professional EHS work experience. Be familiar with hot deep galvanization, produce tube and punching working environment.

Progressive experience in comprehensive environmental health and safety programs at a comparable organization or experience in laboratory or research & development environment. Bachelor's degree in science or technical Field A Professional certification, such as Certified Safety Professional.

**Qualifications: **

- **Education: ** bachelor's degree in, Occupational Health, Safety Management, or related field.

- **Certifications (Preferred):** CSP, CIH, CHMM, or similar.

- **Experience: ** 3-5 years in EHS, preferably in [industry, e.g., manufacturing, construction].

- **Knowledge: ** Proficiency in OSHA, EPA, DOT regulations; familiarity with EHS software

- **Skills: **

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

- Ability to conduct root-cause analyses and deliver engaging training.

- Detail-oriented with project management capabilities.

**Work Environment: **

- Hybrid role split between office, manufacturing sites, and field locations.

- Exposure to noise, machinery, and varying temperatures; PPE required in designated areas.
