Job description

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Cisco Unified Communications Engineer to design, implement, and optimize enterprise-grade voice, video, and collaboration solutions. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Cisco UC platforms (CUCM, CUC, UCCX, Expressway) and a proven ability to integrate them with SIP-based systems and VoIP networks.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Implementation

  • Design, configure and deploy Cisco UC solutions (CUCM, Unity Connection, IM&P, Expressway, Webex).
  • Configure SIP trunks, H.323/MGCP gateways, and dial plans for multi-site environments.
  • Integrate UC systems with PSTN carriers, Microsoft Teams, and hybrid cloud platforms.
  • Design high-availability and disaster recovery solutions for critical communication services.

Third-Party Integrations

  • VQ Conference Manager:
  • Deploy and manage VQ Conference Manager as a replacement for Cisco TMS.
  • Integrate VQ with Cisco UC (CUCM, Webex, endpoints) for scheduling, management, and analytics.
  • Contact Center Analytics: Integrate Calabrio with Cisco UCCX/PCCE for call recording and workforce optimization.
  • Call Management Tools: Implement Imagicle solutions (call recording, CRM integration) with CUCM.

Operational Management

  • Troubleshoot call routing, QoS issues, SIP interoperability, and media flows.
  • Monitor performance using Cisco Unified CM Analytics and Prime Collaboration.
  • Implement security best practices (TLS, SRTP, SIP hardening, certificate management).
  • Plan and execute CUCM upgrades, patches, and migrations (e.g., v11 to v14).

Collaboration & Support

  • Work with network teams to ensure QoS (DSCP/LLQ) for real-time traffic.
  • Document architectures, configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Provide Tier 3 support and train end-user on UC features.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Core Competencies

  • Cisco UC Stack: CUCM, CUC, UCCX, CER, Expressway, Webex Calling.
  • Protocols: SIP, H.323, MGCP, RTP/RTCP, TLS/SRTP.
  • Networking: VLANs, QoS, PoE, firewall traversal (NAT/Traffic Shaping).
  • Cloud collaboration tools (Webex Calling).
  • Scripting (Python, PowerShell) for UC automation.
  • Contact center integrations (UCCX, PCCE).

Other Third-Party Tools:

  • VQ Conference Manager:
  • Hands-on experience deploying/managing VQ Conference Manager in Cisco environments.
  • Knowledge of VQ-Cisco interoperability (scheduling, provisioning, diagnostics).
  • Calabrio (workforce optimization, reporting).
  • Imagicle (call recording, analytics).

Soft Skills

  • Ability to translate business needs into scalable UC designs.
  • Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting real-time communication issues.
  • Ability to design scalable UC and third party workflows (e.g., VQ for video conferencing management).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for multi-vendor UC and video systems.

  • Cisco: CCNP Collaboration or CCIE Collaboration
