Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities

This position is responsible for the management and coordination of the EPC Contractor on a major multidiscipline construction project involving both Greenfields and Brownfields sites. The successful candidate will apply strong management capabilities to deliver excellence in the following key areas:

  • Provide input into engineering design to ensure constructability.
  • Develop and review construction planning and monitor project progress to ensure adherence to schedule, quality standards, and budgetary requirements.
  • Authorize construction planning, programming, and on-site completion schedules; liaise with the Project Director and EPC Contractor regarding completion timelines for various construction phases.
  • Supervise and schedule activities of PMC Site Engineers and EPC Contractor's on-site procurement and administrative personnel to ensure smooth coordination of the construction process. Direct and oversee site teams and physical resources to meet construction targets.
  • Collaborate with the EPC Contractor to adjust construction systems and methods in response to project developments.
  • Monitor project costs and implement corrective actions in case of significant deviations from the budget. Provide regular reports to the client and PMC management regarding financial status.
  • Lead and coordinate the safety committee to proactively address and resolve potential safety concerns.
  • Oversee project scheduling, cost management, time and quality control, procurement, contract administration, general site management, and the activities of the EPC Contractor and subcontractors.
  • Manage and mitigate health, safety, and environmental risks related to construction operations.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives to enhance project efficiency.
  • Ensure effective risk management through design and execution phases.
  • Interpret and apply the requirements of the OHS Regulations Act.
  • Uphold design integrity and ensure quality across the project team.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to team members to support professional growth and performance.

Relevant degree and a proven track record in managing major petrochemical projects as a Construction Manager
