The Role

We currently have an opening for a Gas Applications Engineer. This customer-facing role requires self-motivated individuals with strong consultative and communication skills to implement AspenTech's OSI solutions. The position focuses on designing, installing, and configuring advanced oil & gas applications for SCADA control systems across upstream, midstream, and downstream operations. You will oversee technical aspects of Professional Services for AspenTech's oil & gas utility products, working in coordination with other engineering staff and customers. On-the-job training will be provided.

Your Impact
  • Develop and execute system build plans considering software architecture, information security, and hardware deployment.
  • Collaborate with customers to understand their operational needs, provide system training, and configure solutions accordingly.
  • Manage the technical aspects of Professional Services, including implementing the overall system design of AspenTech’s products for real-time critical infrastructure control systems.
  • Perform system and acceptance testing with customers.
  • Coordinate with product development and management teams to enhance AspenTech’s products.
  • Travel to customer sites to deliver, test, and integrate systems.
  • Represent AspenTech professionally with a positive attitude.
  • Manage projects diligently and responsibly.
  • Resolve issues decisively and innovatively.
What You'll Need
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum Engineering, Computer Science, or a relevant technical field.
  • Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts and present to customers.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to draw conclusions from customer data and interviews.
  • Effective time and project management skills.
  • Flexibility to travel domestically and internationally (up to 25%).
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in operations or engineering within a gas utility or oil & gas energy provider.
  • Experience with real-time control systems, including SCADA solutions.
  • At least 1 year of engineering or oil & gas industry operations experience.
  • Knowledge of computer architectures, databases, and operating systems.
  • Understanding of IT systems and data center designs.
  • Knowledge of oil & gas measurement principles and hydraulics.

The salary range for this role is $61,100 - $76,400, reflecting our current estimate of base compensation. The actual pay may vary based on factors such as experience and qualifications. This role is also eligible for bonus or incentive pay. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, charitable giveback days, medical/dental/vision insurance, and retirement benefits.
