We are founder-led, profitable, and growing. We are hiring an Ubuntu Pro Sales Engineer to help global companies adopt the latest Linux and open source applications. Our team applies expert insights to real-world customer problems, enabling enterprise adoption of Ubuntu Pro, OpenStack, Canonical Microcloud, Kubernetes, and related technologies. This role is ideal for software engineers who enjoy customer interactions and solving problems during the presales cycle. Ubuntu's widespread use across industries offers a unique opportunity to learn about the open source landscape and see firsthand how Linux and Ubuntu are driving innovation and positive change globally.

This position is suited for candidates with a technical background, a business mindset, and a drive for success. It is part of our global Field Engineering team and will collaborate closely with enterprise sales leads. Location-wise, most colleagues work remotely, with teams in EMEA, Americas, and APAC time zones, accommodating candidates from many countries.

What your day will look like
  • Facilitating and driving the adoption of Ubuntu Pro among large enterprise users.
  • Collecting customer requirements and advising on Ubuntu and open source applications.
  • Identifying challenges with open source and demonstrating how Ubuntu Pro can address them.
  • Delivering presentations and product demonstrations to prospective and current clients.
  • Providing feedback to product teams to influence development roadmaps.
  • Collaborating with sales teams to achieve targets.
  • Traveling up to 25% for internal and external events, and 25% for customer meetings.

  • Strong academic background from high school and university.
  • Degree in a technical field or a compelling alternative path.

  • Proven ability to exceed expectations.

  • Practical knowledge of Linux, virtualization, containers, and networking.
  • Business-minded problem solver with cloud computing familiarity (Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Intermediate Python skills.
  • Passion for technology, demonstrated through personal projects.
  • Excellent English communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience with Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred).
  • Interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.
  • Motivated, proactive, and collaborative attitude.
  • Ability to travel internationally for company and client engagements.
