Job description

Required for a Leading Safety & Security Equipment Company in Saudi Arabia

Job Description:

As a Welder (TIG & Arc) in a Fire Fighting job, you will be responsible for performing welding tasks to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of fire fighting systems and equipment. This includes working with both TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) and Arc welding techniques to ensure the integrity, durability, and functionality of components used in fire suppression systems, such as pipes, tanks, fittings, and structural supports.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Welding Operations:
  • Perform TIG and Arc welding on various metals such as steel, stainless steel, and aluminum, ensuring strong, clean, and precise welds for fire fighting system components.
  • Use proper welding techniques to avoid contamination or defects, and ensure the welded areas are strong enough to withstand high pressures in fire fighting systems.
  • Follow blueprints, technical drawings, and welding codes to ensure welds meet industry standards and specifications.
  • Fabrication & Assembly:
    • Fabricate and assemble fire fighting system components, such as pipes, tanks, nozzles, and other structural supports.
    • Ensure welded components are properly aligned, positioned, and securely fastened for the integrity of the fire fighting system.
  • Inspection & Quality Control:
    • Conduct regular inspections of welded joints to ensure they meet safety and quality standards.
    • Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques (e.g., ultrasonic, visual, or dye-penetrant testing) to check the quality of the welds and identify any potential defects.
    • Maintain records of inspections, welding processes, and repairs.
  • Maintenance & Repair:
    • Perform routine maintenance on fire fighting equipment and systems, identifying and repairing any welding or structural issues that could affect system performance.
    • Troubleshoot welding issues and suggest effective solutions to ensure fire fighting systems are always operational.
  • Safety Compliance:
    • Adhere to safety standards and procedures to ensure personal safety and the safety of team members.
    • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as welding helmets, gloves, and protective clothing to prevent injury.
    • Ensure proper ventilation and fire safety precautions are in place during welding operations, especially in confined or hazardous areas.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with engineers, fire safety specialists, and other team members to ensure that fire fighting systems are installed and maintained properly.
    • Provide input on design improvements or modifications to welding practices for better system performance.

    Qualifications & Skills:

    • Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Additional certification or training in welding (e.g., TIG and Arc welding) is preferred.
    • Experience: Previous experience in welding, particularly in fire fighting or industrial systems, is highly desirable.

    • Skills:
      • Proficient in both TIG and Arc welding techniques.
      • Strong knowledge of welding materials, tools, and equipment.
      • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
      • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
      • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in emergency situations.
      • Strong focus on safety and compliance with industry standards.

    Working Conditions:

    • Location: Fieldwork, construction sites, or fire safety equipment manufacturing facilities.
    • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, bend, and work in confined spaces for extended periods. Some lifting and handling of equipment may be required.
    • Schedule: Flexible working hours, may involve shift work or on-call availability in emergencies.

This role is critical for ensuring the reliability and safety of fire fighting systems through high-quality welding and maintenance, helping to protect both lives and property.
