Job Summary:
The Senior Technical Engineer Lead is responsible for overseeing and guiding the technical aspects of structural/geotechnical assessment and evaluation projects. This includes planning and supervising/evaluating outcomes of visual inspections, non-destructive testing (NDT), material sampling and testing, structural modeling and analysis, soil-structure interaction check, and the development/review of strengthening or stabilization designs. The role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and project coordination skills to ensure quality, accuracy, and timely delivery of engineering services. In addition, a strong understanding of construction materials, deterioration mechanisms, and repair techniques, along with expertise in selecting and specifying appropriate repair material, is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage technical teams, supervise and run QA/QC on operation teams, in conduct condition assessments of existing structures (buildings, bridges, industrial facilities, etc.).
Plan, supervise visual inspections, non-destructive evaluation (NDE/NDT), and in-situ material testing
Interpret field data, test results, and inspection findings to identify structural deficiencies and risks.
Develop/review structural analysis models using relevant software (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, ROBOT, STAAD, ANSYS, PLAXIS, etc.).
Propose and design/review solutions for strengthening, retrofitting, or stabilizing structures in compliance with codes and standards.
Specify appropriate repair materials based on project requirements, environmental exposure, and compatibility with existing structures.
Prepare high-quality technical reports, drawings, and specifications.
Coordinate with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical training as needed.
Assist in proposal writing, project scoping, and client communications.
Ensure adherence to safety standards, industry codes, and best practices throughout project execution.
Skills
Qualifications:
Proficiency in structural analysis tools and knowledge of standards (ACI, ASCE, Eurocodes, etc.).
Experience in interpreting non-destructive testing techniques (e.g., UPV, Rebar locator, Schmidt hammer).
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
Excellent communication and team leadership abilities.
Field experience in diverse structural types (e.g., concrete, steel, masonry).
Deep knowledge of materials science, including concrete, masonry, steel, and advanced composites.
Proficient in NDT methods (e.g., GPR, UPV, impact echo, corrosion potential mapping).
Experience with structural modeling and analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, Robot, Plaxis, etc.).
Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
Familiarity with repair material specifications and performance criteria (e.g., ACI, ASTM standards).
Ability to travel to job sites as required.
