Job description

A TFA FEP is an entry-level position designed to develop your technical, leadership, and lean thinking skills through GE's Field Engineering Program (FEP). During the program, you will participate in:

  • In-person and online training curriculum
  • On-the-job training
  • Mentorship from experienced Technical Field Advisors (TFAs)

Successful completion of the FEP makes you eligible for a TFA Generator Specialist role. The Generator Specialist provides on-site technical support for utility and industrial power plants, focusing on troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of turbine generators. Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring safety compliance and executing work within GE safety standards
  • Traveling extensively to project sites and field assignments
  • Working holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed
  • Managing generator inspections and testing using advanced technology
  • Utilizing electronic communication and documentation tools for repair and inspection procedures
  • Predicting and documenting potential generator failures
  • Communicating effectively with customers regarding generator issues
  • Possessing familiarity with power circuit breakers, relay systems, and motors/generators
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting and print reading skills
  • Participating in safety-focused service team activities
  • Planning and executing generator projects and repairs
  • Supporting warranty and troubleshooting issues

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Engineering degree or equivalent
  • Strong understanding of electrical/mechanical diagrams
