Job description

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibility for the development, performance and maintenance of all vehicle fleet and the efficient running of the fleet to maximize performance and service to all business units.

  • Ensuring that the fleet team understands the duties of the fleet team and its role within the organization
  • Meet the targets of the fleet manager and the team
  • Contribute to the training and development of the team
  • Manage and monitor the condition of the fleet
  • Maintain and improve mechanisms to manage and service the fleet
  • Direct the development of plans to achieve internal customer targets
  • Plans for fleet improvement and availability.
  • Reporting monthly on fleet up time per business unit.
  • Delegation of authority within the fleet department
  • Management of spare parts and purchasing of parts in line with department budgets
  • Mage relationships with internal and external customers
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures
  • Complying to Government policies and procedures and the payment of regulatory fees

Skills

Skills / Experiences:

  • Previous fleet management experience at a mid-size organization
  • 3-5 years as assistant fleet manager
  • Extensive mechanical or workshop management experience
  • Procurement of new vehicles and sparer parts
  • Microsoft office or fleet management system preference

Education:

Qualified Mechanical Technician - petrol, diesel and tractor
