Job description

Summary
Provides support to employees by addressing personal and professional issues, promoting a constructive attitude, and managing stress related to job functions or emotional well-being. This involves examining underlying causes, resolving issues, and aligning solutions with hospital needs and environment, while enhancing communication between staff and management.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Develops counselling referral protocols and guidelines as directed by the Manager, Employee Relations.
  2. Handles self-referral requests for counselling from staff and management, scheduling appointments accordingly.
  3. Conducts interviews with employees to establish rapport, identify issues, and provide counselling on personal and work-related matters.
  4. Guides new employees through cultural adjustments and potential stress areas.
  5. Analyzes data to identify root causes of employee problems.
  6. Determines appropriate counselling approaches and consults with management about possible changes in work conditions or environment.
  7. Supports employees in utilizing available resources and developing coping strategies.
  8. Refers employees to specialized professionals when necessary and collaborates with them while maintaining confidentiality.
  9. Serves as a resource for staff and management, ensuring confidentiality at all times.
  10. Conducts exit interviews for all resigning employees and provides monthly reports.
  11. Monitors dignity-related cases, seeking solutions or forwarding cases to the Dignity at Work Place Committee as appropriate.
  12. Addresses walk-in complaints received at Employee Relations.
  13. Participates in departmental consultation and improvement initiatives.
  14. Organizes awareness events and creates informational materials to enhance the hospital's professional image.
  15. Manages cases related to terminated employees.
  16. Participates in crisis intervention when needed.
  17. Adheres to all hospital policies and procedures.

Education

Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Law, Behavioral Science, Psychology, or related fields is required.

Experience Required

Five (5) years of relevant experience with a Master's degree or seven (7) years with a Bachelor's degree is required.
