NEOM: NEOM: A new future in KSA

THE LINE has ambitious sustainability objectives, including environmental aspects, managed by THE LINE Proponent, aiming to create a new way of living and address major planetary challenges.

During Stage 3A and 3B, the THE LINE Projects Sustainability team works closely with THE LINE Proponent and other parties to ensure sustainability objectives are integrated into procurement and management of various engineers and consultants, including Marine and Industrialized Construction Consultants. They also support procurement of the Neighbourhood Engineer and the Anchor Asset Engineer.

Responsibilities:

As a Sustainability Senior Manager, your core responsibilities include ensuring all design packages comply with NEOM frameworks, policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and industry standards.

  • Ensure infrastructure assets are designed in accordance with NEOM standards and applicable laws, sustainability frameworks, green rating systems, and industry standards.
  • Oversee compliance programs and processes.
  • Integrate sustainability requirements into all infrastructure design documents.
  • Provide expert advice on decarbonization, carbon budgets, Net Zero goals, and review LCA reports.
  • Advise on Energy and Water reduction strategies.
  • Promote low-carbon solutions and ensure carbon reporting during design.
  • Prepare compliance reports and communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Stay updated on relevant laws and standards, interpret regulations, and advise designers/stakeholders.
  • Assess risks and develop mitigation strategies for compliance risks.
  • Collaborate with regulatory authorities, auditors, and partners.
  • Develop tracking and reporting frameworks for sustainability metrics.
  • Align sustainability outcomes with UN SDGs and IFC PS, contributing to NEOM’s sustainability goals.
  • Lead and guide the sustainability team, fostering innovation and continuous improvement.

Support the implementation of sustainability objectives into procurement and management of designers, including scope development, proposal review, onboarding, design review, and compliance with NEOM procedures and standards.

Support the sustainability team in achieving KPIs and targets, with additional responsibilities as assigned by the Head of Sustainability Performance Excellence.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical; Master’s in sustainability, environmental science, or similar preferred.
  • Experience embedding sustainability into master planning and infrastructure design, including Energy and Water reduction.
  • Experience with complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Minimum 15 years in engineering, focusing on sustainability and green building practices.
  • Proven success in LEED and/or Envision projects, with deep understanding of sustainable design principles.
  • Knowledge of carbon accounting, decarbonization, and life cycle carbon.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strategic thinking, data analysis, and opportunity identification skills.
  • Good problem-solving skills, adaptable, able to meet deadlines with minimal rework.
  • Understanding of how their expertise fits within team and project objectives.
