Job description

Summary

Supports the provision of safe, patient- and family-focused quality care. Performs clerical, receptionist, translator, and other activities in support of patient care while maintaining confidentiality. Supports the successful achievement of the Nursing Affairs strategic goals.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Participates in promoting and maintaining effective communication and teamwork. Answers questions and provides appropriate directions to patients, families, and visitors. Treats colleagues, patients, and visitors with dignity and respect at all times.
  2. Translates between Arabic and English for patients, families, and the healthcare team. Accurately conveys information and orders. Participates in patient education programs as requested.
  3. Prepares and maintains all patient records.
  4. Inputs and extracts data from computer systems such as ICIS and Oracle.
  5. Maintains professional standards and functions appropriately in a multicultural environment. Adheres to the Employee Code of Conduct.
  6. Welcomes new staff and students to the area and participates in retention activities. Contributes to achieving staff retention and turnover rate goals. Acts as a mentor and preceptor for new staff to develop their skills.
  7. Promotes a safe environment and safe patient care by embracing a safety culture and identifying areas of risk to supervisors. Complies with policies for personal and patient safety and infection prevention.
  8. Reports equipment failures, safety and security issues, and supply shortages to supervisors.
  9. Supports cost-efficiency in the area by being resource-conscious and careful in ordering supplies.
  10. Participates in staff orientation and development activities, including mentoring new staff.

Education

Associate Degree or Diploma from an accredited institution in a relevant field is required.
