Job description

Responsibilities:

  1. Follow strict safety directions, including the use of warning labels and personal protective equipment.
  2. Provide quality laboratory services across pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phases.
  3. Verify procedures to ensure accuracy, precision, and performance characteristics of methods.
  4. Ensure the availability of basic laboratory services at all times.
  5. Maintain adequate and safe laboratory space, including storage for reagents, supplies, samples, and records.
  6. Assess facilities such as water supply, temperature control, ventilation, lighting, and safety signage.
  7. Label reagents and solutions with content, concentration, preparation date, expiration date, and storage requirements.
  8. Store critical supplies and reagents according to manufacturer recommendations, monitoring conditions appropriately.
  9. Test water quality as required for procedures.
  10. Maintain accurate laboratory records following established protocols.
  11. Ensure availability of qualified personnel, equipment, and supplies.
  12. Perform daily checks on the functionality of all tools and equipment.
  13. Participate in developing and implementing the department's operational budget.
  14. Maintain the department regularly in accordance with quality and infection control guidelines.
  15. Ensure the laboratory has a comprehensive specimen collection manual covering patient preparation, collection, labeling, transportation, and rejection criteria.

Qualifications & Experience:

  1. Higher Diploma in a health-related field.
  2. Current registration with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
  3. At least 2 years of experience in a laboratory setting.

Skills and Competencies:

  1. Ability to operate and monitor laboratory instruments.
  2. Knowledge of laboratory principles, methods, practices, and standards to ensure quality patient care.
  3. Good understanding of laboratory equipment and tools.
  4. Proficiency in English and medical terminology.
  5. Effective communication skills and ability to build good relationships with colleagues.
