Responsibilities
- Perform unit-level maintenance on aircraft powertrain and rotor systems.
- Remove and replace powertrain quills, transmission adapting parts, rotary wing hub, and tanks.
- Disassemble friction dampers and hanger assemblies.
- Disassemble, repair, reassemble, adjust, balance, and align powertrain and rotor components, systems, and subsystems, including forward and aft rotor head assemblies, according to directives.
- Apply corrosion preventative procedures.
- Clean, preserve, and store powertrain and rotor components.
- Use and perform operator maintenance on ground support equipment, common, and special tools.
- Maintain facilities for storage of returnable and hazardous materials.
- Requisition and maintain shop and bench stock for repair of aircraft powertrain and rotor systems and subsystems.
- Prepare requests for turn-in and repair parts for powertrain and rotor components.
- Use common and precision measuring tools, alignment fixtures, and other equipment necessary for tasks.
- Assist customers in requisitioning and maintaining shop and bench stock items for aircraft powertrain repairs.
- Ensure aircraft powertrain activities are planned, coordinated, and synchronized to meet operational readiness rates as per contractual requirements.
- Establish daily maintenance goals, objectives, and priorities to achieve stated OR rates.
- Oversee daily maintenance management of assigned aircraft in support of the Maintenance Lead and Aviation Logistics.
- Adhere to maintenance quality control processes, procedures, and standards.
- Lead inquiries, investigations, and research related to powertrain maintenance and activities.
- Coordinate maintenance support activities with the Maintenance Lead.
- Support Downed Aircraft Recovery Team (DART) processes and procedures in coordination with the PC and Maintenance Lead.
- Enter, review, and update aircraft maintenance records and forms.
- Provide On-the-Job Training (OJT), coaching, and mentoring to personnel in aircraft powertrain tasks.
- Ensure all maintenance operations are conducted safely.
- Perform other tasks as directed by the Maintenance Lead.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years' experience as an aircraft powertrain mechanic.
- Successfully completed and qualified by the appropriate Government armed forces Powertrain course or civilian equivalent training.
- Proficient in using computer-hosted technical manuals, maintenance forms, and aviation management systems.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally and courteously with customers.
- Possess a valid driver’s license issued by the state or government.
- Successfully pass an overseas deployment physical upon hire.
