- Facilitate the availability and access to the wide range of medical specialties that are required to effectively manage patients in need of respiratory therapy.
- ACLS/ PALS or NRP certified according to the age group.
- Comply with CBAHI standards and other regulations.
- Maintain staff schedules to always ensure staff availability.
- Provides quality care by conducting pulmonary function tests, assessing, and interpreting test results, and determining respiratory therapy treatment plans in consultation with other healthcare staff.
- Contribute to administering inhalants, operating mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators.
- Assist in performing bronchopulmonary drainage & monitor physiological responses to therapy, such as vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes.
- Document patient care services by charting patient and department records.
- Perform airway clearance and volume expansion modalities for the purpose of assisting the patient in the mobilization of bronchial secretions or increasing lung volume.
- Assure continuation of the therapeutic plan by educating patients or caregivers about their conditions and appropriate disease management techniques, such as breathing exercises, use of medications, and respiratory equipment.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
- Obtain and document informed consent, explaining the risks and benefits of, and the rationale for a proposed procedure or therapy.
- Evaluate patients by performing limited physical examinations and conducting diagnostic tests including those that measure lung capacity tests and acidity or alkalinity of the blood.
- Direct appropriate documentation of the patient s current condition before & after conducting the procedure.
- Provide emergency care, including artificial respiration, external cardiac massage, and assistance with cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- Ensure staff follows established guidelines regarding the use of appropriate available instrumentation including, but not limited to, variables of ventilation gas exchange and hemodynamic function, respiratory rate, tidal or minute ventilation & dead space ventilation.
- Devise policies and procedures to guide respiratory care services including, but not limited to; use of equipment, pulmonary function testing, obtaining arterial blood gasses, mechanical ventilator support & dealing with open cases of tuberculosis.
- Direct necessary requisitions for the consumed stock items and submit formal documentation to the designated department in case of malfunctioning equipment and defective instruments in the unit.
- Daily assessment of the functionality of all tools and equipment.
Qualification & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor s Degree in respiratory therapy.
- Certification in ACLS/ PALS or NRP according to the age groups.
- Current Registration in the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in the Respiratory Therapy Department.
Skills and Competencies:
- Knowledge of regulations established by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties related to healthcare practices.
- Ability to maintain mechanical lung ventilators appropriately to assure proper function and to ascertain therapeutic effectiveness.
- Skills to operate & monitor respiratory therapy instruments.
- Expertise in respiratory therapy principles, methods, practices, and standards to ensure quality patient care.
