Job Purpose/Summary: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Electrical Technician to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to perform daily maintenance activities to ensure the safe and efficient operation of our plant. The technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, documenting, and repairing a wide variety of industrial instrumentation and control systems. This includes working with process analyzers, distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLC), compressor and centrifuge controls, boiler and burner control systems, and other equipment used in the production of chemical products. Adherence to safety procedures and compliance with quality standards are essential in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Comply with company policies and safety procedures, contributing to achieving target environment, health, and safety rates, as well as complying with quality procedures and NAMA ISO certified standards.
Perform daily maintenance activities according to Standard Maintenance Procedures, ensuring high quality and efficient work. Maintain accurate records and documentation of maintenance activities and ensure clean and organized work areas.
Provide timely feedback to the supervisor regarding any findings or abnormalities encountered during job performance.
Respond to both normal and emergency operation and maintenance activities, and be available for on-call duties when assigned.
Attend on-the-job and classroom training sessions, as well as other scheduled training programs, to enhance knowledge and skills.
Independently troubleshoot and address issues related to programmable logic control (PLC) software, distributed control systems (DCS), boiler control systems, and burner management systems.
Demonstrate proficiency in job requirements through practical experience and acquire and maintain the required certifications.
Maintain, repair, and calibrate field instruments, including temperature transmitters, pressure transmitters, and level transmitters.
Maintain, repair, and calibrate sensors and transmitters for parameters such as pH, conductivity, and ORP.
Maintain, repair, and calibrate process analyzers, such as gas chromatographs, oxygen analyzers, moisture analyzers, and other analyzers used in the plant.
Possess knowledge of different types of flow meters, including differential pressure, Coriolis, and electromagnetic flow meters.
Perform preventative maintenance and servicing of control valves, on-off valves, and related components.
Maintain, repair, and calibrate vendor packages, including bagging machines, drumming machines, weighbridges, and weighers.
Maintain, repair, and calibrate gas detectors installed in the plant.
Utilize instrument tools, such as Beamex Calibrators and HART communicators, proficiently.
Install and commission new control and instrumentation devices, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
Conduct periodic preventative maintenance inspections of control instruments, diagnosing and addressing any existing or potential issues.
Education:
A 3-year diploma in Process Instrumentation and Control from a reputable college/university.
Experience:
3 to 6 years of mechanical maintenance experience in the petrochemical industry.
Job Skills/Knowledge:
Excellent knowledge of instrumentation and control systems, with strong troubleshooting skills.
Basic knowledge of distributed control systems (DCS) and troubleshooting.
Excellent knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLC) and their troubleshooting.
Good troubleshooting knowledge of analyzers, including basic gas chromatography principles.
Knowledge of industrial safety procedures and standards.
Experience in confined space work, hot works, working at heights, and energy isolation procedures.
Familiarity with hazard identification related to environmental aspects and personal safety.
Ability to conduct risk assessments and implement necessary safety measures, such as personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and process isolation.
Full awareness of plant environmental, health, and safety (EHS) requirements for the safe execution of tasks.
