Ground Support Systems (GSS) Manager
Location: Taif, Saudi Arabia
JOB PURPOSE
The objective of the Ground Support Systems (GSS) Manager is to oversee the delivery of GSS capability activities. The GSS Manager facilitates daily liaison across maintenance organizations, aircrew, and RSAF Squadron Commanders to ensure the GSS capability supports the Typhoon flying program. Additionally, the GSS Manager reports to the GSS Operations Manager and is responsible for:
- Ensuring compliance with all governance requirements of the Operational Framework, including ITAR, LCM, planning, monitoring, change control, budget management, and reporting on Salam Operations contract performance to meet customer and business needs.
- Understanding the Internal Business Plan (IBP), aligning team roles with business objectives, and conveying this to the team.
- Ensuring the GSS administration team has the necessary resources and capabilities.
- Leading, developing, and motivating GSS teams to fulfill their responsibilities.
- Maintaining compliance with governance, customer, and contractual requirements.
- Providing operational IT & Infrastructure assessments for GSS hardware supporting Typhoon operations.
- Reporting on GSS performance against contractual requirements.
- Sustaining and improving RSAF Typhoon GSS business, exceeding customer expectations, addressing audit findings, adopting best practices, and identifying new business opportunities.
- Representing GSS operations at senior and customer events and reviews.
- Managing GSS inputs to various reports and organizational documents.
- Producing manpower and organizational reports, including recruitment and Saudisation issues.
- Ensuring delivery of GSS upgrades as agreed with RSAF, liaising with partners.
- Supporting UK capability delivery teams in local support and governance adherence.
- Implementing GSS governance and management arrangements per the GSS Management Plan.
- Developing and maintaining the GSS authorizations framework.
- Maintaining stakeholder networks across BAES SA, Salam, design organizations, customers, suppliers, government, and partners.
- Developing local stakeholder networks with team leaders and RSAF Commanders.
- Proposing GSS capability reflection in Salam’s MOE, CAME, and FOE.
- Supporting M&CA governance activities, including reviews, competence frameworks, assessments, recruitment, and audits.
Qualifications and Experience
- Extensive proven experience in operational Information Technology and aircraft maintenance management.
- Management experience in relevant roles.
- Practitioner level knowledge of Continuing Airworthiness.
- Skills in aircraft ground capability support, such as mission planning or maintenance systems.
- Knowledge of aircraft operation environments and weapon systems.
- Skills in managing maintenance in workshops.
- Leadership experience, ideally in defense aviation.
- Strong communication skills.
Knowledge
- Familiarity with BAES Saudi Arabia and Royal Saudi Air Force.
- Broad aerospace and defense industry knowledge.
