Company Overview:
Our client is a leading asset management arm specialising in short-term private debt strategies. We are seeking an experienced Portfolio Manager specialising in Sharia-compliant SME lending to join a newly created business unit in Saudi Arabia. This role will focus on ensuring a balanced approach to risk and profitability while contributing to the growth and strategic objectives of the firm. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of SME lending within the Saudi Arabian market and Sharia-compliant financial products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a portfolio of Sharia-compliant SME loans, ensuring alignment with risk appetite and profitability goals.
  • Conduct credit assessments and maintain compliance with Sharia principles and trade regulations.

Transaction Structuring & Execution:

  • Structure complex SME lending deals tailored to specific client needs, balancing risk and return.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth execution and compliance with Sharia principles.
  • Optimise SME lending offerings to support client business goals, enhancing competitive advantage in the market.

Market Analysis & Strategic Insights:

  • Stay informed on market trends, geopolitical events, and regulatory changes that may impact the SME lending portfolio.
  • Provide strategic insights based on market analysis to enhance decision-making and portfolio strategy.
  • Develop and present quarterly performance reports, including insights into portfolio trends and areas for improvement.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including relationship management, risk, legal, and operations, to ensure seamless lending processes.
  • Develop strong relationships with external clients, providing expertise and guidance on Sharia-compliant SME lending products and services.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience in Sharia SME lending, portfolio management, private credit, or related fields within the banking or financial services industry in Saudi Arabia is a necessity.
  • Strong understanding of Sharia-compliant financial products and SME lending practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in transaction structuring, and portfolio management.
  • Knowledge of global trade regulations, AML, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis tools and portfolio management software.
