Role Purpose


The Heritage Content Manager is instrumental for overseeing the narrative development, interpretation, research, and content development and planning for a variety of assets and use cases within the NEOM heritage sector. Leveraging advanced digital tools and fostering global partnerships, this role aims to curate engaging and informative content that brings NEOM’s history, culture, and heritage to life across various platforms and mediums, including tour guides, activations, tech activations, newsletters, marketing materials, and more.

Key Accountabilities & Activities


Narrative Development


  1. Conduct in-depth analysis of NEOM Heritage’s historical data, artifacts, and cultural contexts to aid in developing compelling and authentic narratives.
  2. Conduct benchmarking to identify best practices and latest trends and develop an understanding of narrative development at leading global heritage sites and centers.
  3. Collaborate with subject matter experts, historians, and cultural specialists to ensure accuracy and relevance of narrative content.
  4. Craft compelling narratives that effectively communicate the significance and stories behind NEOM’s heritage assets, sites, and artifacts.
  5. Tailor narratives to specific audience demographics and engagement platforms, considering factors such as age, educational background, and cultural sensitivity.

Content Development and Planning:


  1. Develop content strategies and editorial calendars to guide the creation and distribution of NEOM heritage content across multiple channels and platforms.
  2. Conduct benchmarking to identify best practices and latest trends and develop an understanding of content development and planning at leading global heritage sites and centers.
  3. Adapt NEOM heritage content for various use cases, including guided tours, educational programs, mobile apps, podcasts, social media campaigns, and virtual exhibitions.
  4. Collaborate with technology partners and developers to integrate interactive features and multimedia elements into heritage content experiences.
  5. Collaborate with NEOM Heritage marketing, communications, and digital teams to align content initiatives with organizational goals and promotional campaigns and identify opportunities for cross-promotion and content repurposing to maximize reach and impact across diverse audience segments.
  6. Regularly review and update content to reflect evolving scholarship, audience preferences, and organizational priorities.

Interpretation


  1. Develop interpretive strategies and storytelling techniques to engage diverse audiences, enhance their understanding and appreciation of, and facilitate meaningful connections with NEOM’s heritage assets.
  2. Develop interactive experiences, including guided tours, exhibitions, and digital installations, that encourage visitor participation and exploration.
  3. Train NEOM staff and volunteers in interpretive techniques and communication skills to effectively convey heritage messages and facilitate visitor engagement.

Research and Documentation


  1. Conduct comprehensive research using primary and secondary sources, archival materials, and oral histories to uncover historical facts, stories, and contexts relevant to NEOM’s heritage content development.
  2. Stay updated on current scholarship and academic debates within relevant fields of study, integrating new discoveries and interpretations into content development.
  3. Implement metadata standards and classification systems to enhance searchability and discoverability of heritage content within NEOM Heritage’s digital repositories and databases.

Stakeholder Integration


  1. Identify opportunities for integrating NEOM Heritage narrative and content with other relevant NEOM sectors like Tourism, and Entertainment and Culture, and ensuring alignment with broader NEOM projects.
  2. Foster productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including curators, educators, designers, and community leaders, to leverage diverse expertise and resources.
  3. Coordinate NEOM Heritage cross-functional teams and project workflows to ensure seamless execution of heritage content initiatives from conception to delivery.
  4. Facilitate workshops, brainstorming sessions, and knowledge-sharing forums to generate innovative ideas and solutions for NEOM heritage interpretation and storytelling.

  1. Establish quality standards and best practices for NEOM heritage content creation, including editorial guidelines, style conventions, and ethical protocols.
