Job description

Overview

We are seeking a Process Engineer specializing in Utilities and Water Treatment processes to join our Riyadh Refinery within the Operations Engineering Unit (OEU).

OEU is responsible for monitoring and maintaining optimal plant performance using all available monitoring tools. The team conducts daily site visits to track performance, correct deviations, and provide technical and engineering support to the organization.

Your Role

Your primary role is to provide field technical advisory support and process engineering expertise to monitor, troubleshoot, optimize, and drive key operational performance indicators. You will focus on programs within Riyadh Refinery's Water Treatment Plant (WTP) and Utilities, including sewage water treatment, raw water, cooling water, boiler feedwater, demineralized water, waste water treatment, instrument air, boilers, heat recovery steam generators, and steam turbines. Your goal is to enhance process safety, optimize energy and manufacturing costs, increase plant reliability, and maximize profitability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and monitor the performance of existing WTP and Utilities facilities through KPIs, generating daily reports on deviations and corrective actions.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly performance reports, analyzing KPIs, chemical treatment compliance, membrane performance, and recommending improvements.
  • Identify plant constraints, conduct internal assessments, and debottlenecking studies with support from process licensors and engineering services.
  • Provide technical advice on operation-related issues, process troubleshooting, start-up and shutdown activities, capacity testing, pilot testing, and process design.
  • Lead hazard and operability analyses (HAZOP), management of change (MOC), root cause analysis (RCA), and incident investigations.
  • Develop business cases and engineering packages for modifications and upgrades.
  • Participate in business planning and coordinate capital investments, including techno-economic evaluations.
  • Recommend and support deployment of proven technologies in WTP and Utilities process units.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • At least 8 years of hands-on experience in WTP and Utilities processes and operations.
  • Exposure to technologies such as API, RO, Demin, HRSGs (FW, Westinghouse, Siemens).
  • Experience with chemical vendor programs like 3D tracer, Purate system, and water conservation systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong presentation skills.
  • Understanding of international engineering standards and best practices relevant to WTP and Utilities.
  • Certification as a Process Hazards Analysis (PHA)/HAZOP leader is preferred.
