Job description

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Collect daily, weekly, or monthly timesheets.
  2. Calculate the correct amount, incorporating overtime, deductions, bonuses, etc.
  3. Employers' compensation by the end of each month.
  4. Schedule bank payments or distribute paychecks directly to employees.
  5. Distribute payment statements and gather signed receipts, digital or paper.
  6. Report on payroll expenses.
  7. Ensure wages and tax withholdings comply with regulations.
  8. Enter new employer data, e.g., bank accounts and other employee information, into the hospital's internal databases.
  9. Answer questions about compensation, benefits, and insurance deductions.
  10. Address payroll-related issues and questions from employees and superiors.
  11. Gather information on hours worked for each employee.
  12. Follow up to assist new employees with bank details.
  13. Obtain approval from higher management for payments when needed.
  14. Administer payment statements to personnel, electronically or on paper.
  15. Keep track of hourly rates, wages, compensation, benefit rates, and new hire information.
  16. Prepare reports for management concerning audits, financial conditions, and fund sources and applications.
  17. Ensure all payroll transactions are processed efficiently.
  18. Manage cash on hand, inspect notes receivable/payable, negotiable securities, and canceled checks.
  19. Conduct orientations, onboarding, and record-keeping with new hires as needed.
  20. Perform data entry, filing, scanning, and uploading into hospital systems.
  21. Provide HR support to employees as needed.
  22. Resolve payroll discrepancies.
  23. Maintain payroll operations by following policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • BSc in Accounting, Human Resources, or a relevant field.
  • Proven work experience as a Payroll Officer or similar role.
  • Strong math skills with the ability to spot numerical errors.
  • Good knowledge of labor legislation.
  • Time-management skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with great attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Proficient in MS Office and other relevant software.
