Duties & Responsibilities
- Collect daily, weekly, or monthly timesheets.
- Calculate the correct amount, incorporating overtime, deductions, bonuses, etc.
- Employers' compensation by the end of each month.
- Schedule bank payments or distribute paychecks directly to employees.
- Distribute payment statements and gather signed receipts, digital or paper.
- Report on payroll expenses.
- Ensure wages and tax withholdings comply with regulations.
- Enter new employer data, e.g., bank accounts and other employee information, into the hospital's internal databases.
- Answer questions about compensation, benefits, and insurance deductions.
- Address payroll-related issues and questions from employees and superiors.
- Gather information on hours worked for each employee.
- Follow up to assist new employees with bank details.
- Obtain approval from higher management for payments when needed.
- Administer payment statements to personnel, electronically or on paper.
- Keep track of hourly rates, wages, compensation, benefit rates, and new hire information.
- Prepare reports for management concerning audits, financial conditions, and fund sources and applications.
- Ensure all payroll transactions are processed efficiently.
- Manage cash on hand, inspect notes receivable/payable, negotiable securities, and canceled checks.
- Conduct orientations, onboarding, and record-keeping with new hires as needed.
- Perform data entry, filing, scanning, and uploading into hospital systems.
- Provide HR support to employees as needed.
- Resolve payroll discrepancies.
- Maintain payroll operations by following policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- BSc in Accounting, Human Resources, or a relevant field.
- Proven work experience as a Payroll Officer or similar role.
- Strong math skills with the ability to spot numerical errors.
- Good knowledge of labor legislation.
- Time-management skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with great attention to detail.
- Ability to handle confidential information.
- Proficient in MS Office and other relevant software.
- Excellent communication skills.
