Job Description
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Is a fully qualified professional Geoscientist, with a minimum of Bachelor degree in Pure or Applied Science, but preferably Master and above
Is a professional that can demonstrate in excess of a minimum of 7 years of activity in petrophysics analysis (see note below)
Can demonstrate a variety of technical assignments requiring familiarity with a broad field of Petrophysics and knowledge of other domains: Geology, Geophysics, and Geomechanics
Can demonstrate an intimate knowledge of the petrophysical analysis and modeling workflow
Typical activities involve:
Preform open and cased hole logs processing and interpretation.
Expert in multimin analysis, rock typing and facies analysis integrating well logs and core data.
Conduct Formation pressure data analysis on a well, field and regional scales for fluid type, contacts and pressure communication evaluation.
Plan routine and Special Core Analysis (SCAL) program and integrate analysis with wireline logs.
Build 1D to 3D petrophysical models to highlight hydrocarbon potential capturing all range of uncertainties.
Interpret well testing and PTAs and integrate with the petrophysical models to calibrate reservoir and fluid interpretations.
Provide petrophysical solutions for marginal and tight reservoirs in both clastics and carbonates to capture hydrocarbon potential.
Conduct petrophysical data analysis, saturation modeling for input to reservoir models, distribution of reservoir properties, rock typing, calculation of volumetrics, and rock mechanical/physics and net pay.
Work with a multidisciplinary team to provide recommendations on minimizing formation damage and designing reservoir stimulation programs.
Preform porosity, permeability and saturation height modelling.
Model the range of uncertainties in the petrophysical parameters used for resource estimation.
Conduct detailed petrophysical studies integrating G&G and engineering data to optimize well planning, placement and resource estimation.
Demonstrate knowledge and familiarity with core and thin section analysis for petrophysical evaluation.
Demonstrate working familiarity with low resistivity pay solutions.
Demonstrate working familiarity with heavy oil.
Prepare and present professional-quality presentation materials to technical peers and management.
Provide mentoring and technical assistance to young professionals
Able to take critical decisions and solve problems.
Works in multidisciplinary teams.
He/she participates in and works on reservoir studies for clients with the objective of creating models that are suitable for prospect evaluation, dynamic fluid flow simulation and/or well placement planning.
He/she works in a team environment with geologist, geophysicists and engineers (reservoir, production and completion).
The Reservoir Petrophysicist:
Applies broad knowledge and brings experience to identify problems.
Balances priorities and interfaces with internal/external customers to ensure expectations are met within the confines of policies, technical and professional limits.
Makes independent studies, analyses, interpretations and conclusions. Difficult, complex or unusual matters or decisions are usually referred to a more senior authority.
Keeps others informed of actions and reasons behind them
Education:
Bachelor s Degree, Master s Degree or other higher Degree in Petrophysics, Geology or Petroleum Engineering, or Pure or Applied Science.
Preferred: MSc or MA in Petrophysics, Petroleum Engineering, or Geology
Experience:
BS with minimum 7 years of related experience
MS with minimum 5 years of related experience
PhD with minimum of 3 years of related experience
If no degree, more than 12yrs related work experience
