Job Description

We seek an experienced Carbon Capture Utilization & Sequestration (CCUS) Engineer to join the Downstream Process Engineering Division (DPED) within our Process and Control Systems Department (P&CSD).

The division provides expertise, support, and consultation in refining, flare, and relief systems.

The CCUS Engineer will provide technical expertise, support, and consultation in refining, coordinate and lead techno-economic studies, and develop and implement CCUS projects within Saudi Arabia. This role involves working with multidisciplinary teams and providing expert insights on CCUS matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with operations personnel to understand their needs and develop designs and services accordingly.
  • Review existing systems to identify improvements, potential problems, and conduct continuous improvement studies.
  • Lead initiatives to improve performance, optimize systems, and increase revenue.
  • Develop standards and guidelines for CCS projects in Saudi Arabia.
  • Design new projects, review, and approve engineering calculations and design packages.
  • Present technical papers and deliver presentations to international audiences.
  • Conduct simulation studies using Saudi Aramco licensed software like HYSYS.
  • Mentor junior engineers and deliver training courses.
  • Work independently and foster a positive work environment.
  • Provide operational support as a technical advisor.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Petroleum, or Mechanical Engineering; higher education preferred.
  • Minimum 20 years of experience in the CCS value chain, including CO2 storage projects and geological considerations.
  • Expertise in CCS processes, capture technologies, CO2 transport, storage, and utilization.
  • Knowledge of costs across the CCS value chain.
  • Understanding of policy and regulatory frameworks for CCS projects.
  • Familiarity with carbon policies like carbon tax, cap-and-trade, and carbon pricing.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
