Job Description

We are looking for a highly talented Senior Backend Engineer to join our team in Riyadh. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record as a significant individual contributor, as well as strong teamwork skills, supporting a team, and working closely with management to drive strategic initiatives across the region.

You will be working on:

• Participating in architectural decision-making for a platform used by millions of users.
• Migrating our monolithic application into Microservices.
• Designing, improving, and securing the backend architecture to support growth in users and products without compromise.
• Managing Docker containers, Kubernetes manifests, all on Google Cloud Platform.
• Coaching and mentoring team members as a senior team member and member of our Backend Chapter.
• Applying Design Driven Development, SOLID Principles, Event-driven Architecture, Algorithms, and automated testing (unit, integration, and functional).
• Understanding the development lifecycle and collaborating with cross-functional, agile teams.
• Contributing to test coverage, refactoring, and documentation efforts.
• Demonstrating code review, debugging, and investigation skills regularly.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend development experience using GoLang, Ruby on Rails, Java, or Python.
• Strong database expertise with PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases, including understanding of normal forms, ACID principles, indexing, query optimization, and caching (Redis, Memcached).
• Proficiency with monitoring, alerting, and logging tools such as Grafana.
• Deep understanding of software architecture, including Domain-Driven Design (DDD), microservices, Kubernetes, and containerization.
• Experience with monolithic migration.
• Strong testing mindset with experience in writing unit and integration tests.
• Adaptability and problem-solving skills to navigate ambiguity and work in a fast-paced environment.
